Light-Filled Modern Living

This project transformed a dark and dated 1970s build into a light-filled, contemporary home, while retaining its original character.

The bold black exterior, paired with the feature timber balustrade creates a modern yet timeless aesthetic. Inside, flow and brightness were improved by removing the wall between the kitchen and living area, painting the walls and beautiful raked ceiling a crisp white, and introducing a new white kitchen and warm timber flooring throughout. Large windows, expansive views, and an abundance of natural light further enhance the bright and airy feel.

Simple, modern furnishings and décor were selected to complement the homes finishes. Black accents tie in the exterior palette, while layers of tan and brown through cushions, throws and accessories reference the timber flooring & balustrade detailing. Touches of blue provide contrast and depth to the overall scheme.

The result is a bright, welcoming and sophisticated home that feels renewed rather than replaced, blending timeless design and natural warmth with effortless everyday living.
